Wanna Walk-in? More info on Walkin’ in here

Mats & Props are all provided, however, bringing your own mat + towel to place on top is a great initiative for sweaty classes.

Wanting to take your water into class? Please bring a non-breakable water bottle so that we don’t have glasses flying around. Spill something? Please clean it up for your Cosmic mates, who plan to stay on their feet.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Whether it’s an old pair of PJs or lululemon’s latest pants, we’re happy if you are. Show up in something you can enjoy your practice in.

If you’re attending a Meditation class, Yin Yoga or any other relaxation practice, we advise you to bring some cosy socks + a jumper into class.

Please leave valuable + sentimental items at home if you’re worried about their safety. Need to bring something to class? We provide a small lockers for your keys, crown jewels, etc. Please note that technological items (or anything that beeps + pings) cannot enter the practice room.

We’re a modern bunch – even our yoga teachers won’t throw dirty looks at your iPhones. In fact, we encourage you to take pics of the updates + info that you’ll see on our walls as we’re big fans of preserving trees, one flyer at a time. What we ask is that phones are on silent when you enter the studio + not brought into the practice room.

Your health and wellbeing

If you are pregnant, have a severe and/or recent injury health concern, please consult your doctor before practicing.

If you are pregnant, have an injury or health concern and yoga or other movement-based activities have been recommended by your doctor, please do let your teacher know before the start of our practice. We will do our best to recommend alternative exercises when relevant, or ask you to skip certain exercises.

Try not to eat anything too heavy within 2 hours of practicing with us. This will allow you to get better results from your class + also better digestive results from your food, hehe.

Listen to your body before class. If you are feeling stressed, your practice may help you. However, if you are feeling seriously unwell please choose to rest.

Listen to your body during class. We are often working with our comfort zones in yoga – trying to go a little bit deeper, a little bit further. However, if you feel any pain in the exercises, please return to a comfortable position.

We are not doctors. Our advice is given with good intention, yet without medical expertise. If you ask us for advise regarding your health, we might have some awesome suggestions; however, please always see your doctor for anything concerning your medical, emotional or psychological wellbeing.

Looking for a great Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Masseuse, Nutritionist, etc.? Feel free to ask our team {or email Natasha} for recommendations – we are more than happy to share our personal favourite places to go + people to see!

Rent our studio space

Are you interested in holding your workshop, event, launch, training, meeting, lecture, presentation, dance practice, etc. at one of our studios? Send us all the details to: natasha@studio191.nl

Please note that the studio is only available for rent outside of class schedule times – this means that we cannot cancel classes from our existing schedule for an event – so please do check our online schedule prior to enquiry.

Due to health + safety, we are not able to rent the studio spaces for childrens’ activities. However, we are keen on offering more for prenatal + postnatal women.

The Cosmos is keen to support beautiful initiatives whenever possible. We are particularly passionate about working with facilitators of health, wellness, mindfulness, group coaching + lifestyle education. If you have a workshop, event or course that makes a difference to the local community, please get in touch.

Arriving at the studio

To maintain the peace, we do not have a doorbell – this means being on time is of utmost importance.

Please place your shoes inside the changing rooms with your other belongings.

Make sure to check-in with the host upon arrival {includes OneFit students}.

Need a hug? We’re believers. Feel free to say hi with a hug + watch the boundaries between strangers slip away.

Please leave phones on silent + inside the changing rooms.

Help yourself to tea +  waters but please don’t take the cups into the practice room.

We’re into saving paper here – so any paper we do use {such as our recycled cups} get recycled again.

Talking about saving paper, we’re also into recycling plastic, paper & glass  – you’ll see different recycling bins in the studio for that.

Please make yourself at home + feel comfortable to pour yourself a tea + check out any books and vinyls in our cosy lounge.

In the practice room

Grab yourself a mat + some props (tip: copy the teachers mat}

As teachers, we came together based on our passion for people. The chances are that we have already met, laughed + chatted together. However, if you managed to sneak into the practice room, please do say hi before the class begins. We’re all about you & it’s handy to know your motivations and any history of illness or injury. Speak up, cosmic lovelies.

Please leave all mobile phone {and all other vibrating, ringing devices} and glasses/tea cups outside of the studio practice rooms. Be here now, without distraction.

Be yourself + acknowledge others. Do you need time to sit, lay, stretch, close your eyes, be upside down? Go for it. Or perhaps you spotted a friend on another mat who looks keen for a cuddle? We share our space with each other and as long as we are respectful and aware of those around us, we can wash away the rules within the practice room and be ourselves – with one another. The yogic perspective of internal and external compassion and awareness can be applied in all aspects of our lives. Come to practice as yourself, with yourself + extend your good vibes to others.

At the end of class, you will find our lavender + tea tree mat spray alongside some cotton hand towels. Please clean your mat well + fold the hand towel, placing it back in the basket for the next class. We re-use these towels throughout the day to reduce the use of paper + washing.

Please neatly place all mats, cushions, blocks + blankets away with care for the next bunch of students.

Have feedback? Please let the host or teacher know or drop us a line. We’re here to serve you + always appreciate your thoughts + suggestions.

Lost property and leftover items

Lose Something? Leave It Behind? Sister Studio 191 West, just around the corner from The Cosmos, has a Lost Property Box where we safely place all items. To reclaim your treasure, please visit us during class {opening} hours.

Due to our very small team and community-managed program, we are not able to respond to emails regarding leftover items. If you think you have left an item at one of our studios, please make your way back to the studio during our opening times + one of our hosts/teachers will be able to assist you. We will obviously make an exception for wedding rings – so yes, please do email us if you have left your wedding ring in one of our studios.

Please know that we can store lost property item up to 1 month, so please make sure to collect your item as soon as possible. Most of the time, the most treasured items are collected within days + even though we wish we could store leftovers longer, after one month {when the box is overflowing + our storage space gets limited} we do deliver the items to The Regenboog Groep.

We’re looking for cool, calm and collected Hosts who also like community building  both in-person with our guests and online via our instagram page. This role will require you to prioritise our guests and caring for the physical spaces, and to use the “down time” to create beautiful cosmic video content, imagery and copy for our instagram page. Being a Community Host means being onsite at the physical studio locations and also present in the digital space with our account @thecosmosamsterdam

With a focus on studio care, guest experience – this entry-level role is about making our studio flow optimally on + offline whilst ensuring our guests have the most vibrant and positive experience [which you can then reflect online].

If you love being active and are too sociable to sit behind a desk, if you love being busy and caring for spaces + team members, if you enjoy creating content and building community on and offline…this role could be for you. A day in the life as a Community Host

You arrive at the studio ready to care for the space, welcome the teachers, check-in students and create a fun, vibrant vibe for everyone around you. You take short video clips and stage some photos of the studio, teachers arriving and the spaces set up. Maybe you want to share a great playlist that reflects the vibe of the studio as people arrive or feature a class that still has space in it that day at the studio.

Once the classes begin, you have some time to make and edit content and, of course, to check that the space still looks beautiful for the next guests to arrive. You check our Slack collaboration site to see if anything extra needs to be done – maybe to collect a package or drop off the recycling. You have a plan for your working hours [photos of a certain teacher, maybe a short reel to be created of a certain class style, etc.] but are able to adapt when new priorities arise.

More guests start to arrive and you enjoy giving them a friendly welcome. The earlier class finishes and you’re going the extra mile to ask the guests how they found the class. Maybe the teacher also requests that we order some new props or asks you a question about the space. You know our studios, the websites, our classes and offerings inside out and can answer most of the questions you’re asked – when you don’t know the answers, you know where to find them. You find inspiration on your shift of what you can share online with our community on instagram. Maybe you want to let them ask us questions or you want to interview one of the teachers to ask them about their class before they leave the studio.

More students are soon arriving for class and you take a few moments to reset the space, ensuring they have the same beautiful atmospheric welcome that the previous guests experienced. This time a student has a question so you help them out and another student gives you some interesting feedback so you log it on Slack for our studio development.

Another class begins and again this is your chance to check the studio is clean, tidy and organised – maybe you see that some furnishings need cleaning better or that some props need updating. It’s your keen eye for detail that keeps things looking sharp. You add these notes to our Slack workspace.

The shift is coming to a close and so we use the last 30 minutes to complete some closing tasks. As you leave the studio, you check that everything is in place + ready to go for the next host.

Our Must Haves

  • You have a passion for being active + getting things done.
  • You have a detailed-eye for the studio space and a desire to improve things.
  • You can deliver an exceptional experience for our guests + host team – communication is your superpower.
  • You are not stressed out about using Whatsapp for Business or apps like Slack. Same applies for social media platforms (instagram) and apps (canva, boomerang, inshot, etc.)
  • You acknowledge the importance of accountability and responsibility within your role. You are not afraid to make decisions. You are reliable + punctual, self-motivated and solution-focused. When something needs resolving you know you’re the fastest and most equipped person to solve it.
  • Available to work shifts during our industry’s required timeframes – mornings, evenings and weekends [a combination].
  • Applicants are a minimum of 16 years of age. No work experience is required – full training provided; this is an entry level role.
  • Must have a valid visa for working in The Netherlands and already be living in Amsterdam {preferably near one of our studio locations}.
  • You are looking for an entry level role.

What We Offer

  • An inspiring, fun and friendly place to gain work experience.
